Maxpixels closed because their primary focus has always been Randy Blue / BlueLoot. They didn't have the manpower to associate the three programs or operations. Their decision to close Maxpixels was to designate all of their attention to Randy Blue / BlueLoot which was a success for them as RB continued to grow further.

But, his hypothesis on the affiliate/content store relationship is still correct, affiliates can get whatever content they want for free these days from the sponsors they are promoting, which, not only hurt content stores businesses but the industry as a whole.

Talking from my own experiences with Rainbow Content, i have seen a drastic downturn in revenue from the store over the past 3 years, i used to be able to pull in a good $1500+ a month with very little work selling close to 100 content sets for webmasters to choose from, nowadays, if im pulling in an additional $500 in sales from content, thats a GOOD month.

The proliferation of readily available, high quality, full length free content in the adult industry has hurt everyone, not just affiliate revenues, but content providers, program owners, exclusive producers, even hosting companies (they've had to lower prices to remain competitive) so it isn't just affiliates being hit hard...

Of course, the economy currently has its part to play in our collective dwindling profits, but for the most part, we've done this to ourselves and only have ourselves to blame because we became greedy in a market place that was over-saturated with programs, and under-served with 'real' affiliates.

Yup, because most of them cant actually afford to these days since their earnings took a dump because of the proliferation of free content they asked their affiliate programs for has actually done the opposite of what they all thought it would.. Make them more money
