Paypal gave their merchants a sneak peek at the "future of shopping" yesterday, which includes some neat new features like allowing payments for products in-store by scanning barcodes with a mobile, and doing authorizations with a phone number.
Merchants will be able to push geo-ads and coupons, and consumers will even be able to 'buy now and pay later'.
Check out their promo video
It talks about new features like:
- Payment at the till, simply type in your phone number and PIN at the cash register to authorise a payment directly from your bank account.
- Payment at the till with a PayPal card, which is not associated with any banks.
- Payment with your phone, by scanning a barcode
- Finding and ordering products with your phone in a shop for future delivery, simply scan the barcode, search the shop's inventory, select the exact product you want and buy it with home delivery
