The blue is ok, a bit over the top, but not bad. Definitely reads easier than the current design does on the white. Try a gradient that starts up top with a lighter blue, keep that current blue thru the center and then moves down into black at the base/footer and see what you think.

Also the arrow indent could be used to help guide the eye travel. For instance, bring in that arrow indent to the left side of the tons of niches text block. Put the same arrow cut at the top pointing down under the #1 Male text on the left. (so the medium blue cuts into the darker blue). This will take the eye from left to right and down.

My basic sense of the design is that it's a newer designer trying to stay within "tables" and afraid to let stuff overlap. The slice cuts don't care what's there, it will still slice nicely! And do try to have the text boxes hold actual 12- 14 pt font text on the html, and not be an image of the text. The larger text as an image is fine. It will help with SEO.
