I work in AVS/AEN and until very recently have been chasing my tail by constantly building Premium sites and then building feeder sites to get traffic to them. I have a couple of good sites (1 in particular) that are doing very well. But instead of building more feeder sites to get traffic to them, I'm using google adwords for traffic. I'm currently doing a little better than breaking even, but with rebills, I should do very well. And, I'm updating quite frequently (like a paysite). I've also mirrored the sites on several AVS systems and will rotate the traffic to see who rebills the best.

In effect, I'm marketing an AVS site as a Paysite. I'm not sure this answers your question, but I think that if you pay for a couple of really great "paysite" style designs and give those sites a special marketing push, you could quit the endless "feeder" site cycle. With $15 to $20 rebills from the AVS/AEN's, do you really want to bother with a paysite?... I do, but just not yet!
