Echoing what Lee said, that's really the only justification I've found so far for TGPs.
I simply don't have the time, energy... or bandwidth for that matter... to submit TGPs to a degree that would be justified given their usual clickthru and conversion ratios.

I do, however, have plenty of time to build a free site that has its own content and at which users are exposed many many times to my sponsors, my clients, and my pay sites.

Clickthrus from the thumbnail galleries are low... 5-10% or so. But of that 5-10%, the vast majority bookmark my free site and come back again and again and again. Each time they come back, they see my banners and are given many a chance to pull out that credit card. And a great many do.

They key to the success of this free site is its ample content. It has its own gallery section (my own galleries using my own or sponsor content, not TGP), reviews, articles, forums, PPV theatre, porn star profiles, on and on.

I troll boards like a fiend - not spamming this site but finding out who people are talking about and who they're interested in. What movies and studios they like. What models they like. What kinda porn they're after. And I write articles and reviews and feature models/movies/sites accordingly. And sponsor ads are all placed strategically - ad for the PPV theatre page of the movie reviewed or a movie starring the model in the profile, for example.

And the reviews and articles make for excellent search engine traffic, as well.
My #1 referring site? Google. Tens of thousands of visits via Google/month.
Discussion boards are also a huge traffic source as some random visitor will post links to my sites/reviews/model profile on these boards and in flow the people. And they stay.
It takes work... building a site from scratch like this and keeping it populated. I update it several times a day with new model profiles/galleries/reviews. But I'll tone down all the updates in a month or 2, by which point so many people will have bookmarked it that return visits alone should account for thousands of visits/day (ideally) and it'll have picked up so much inertia from these first few months that it has enough of its own momentum to keep a steadily heavy influx of traffic. And any promotion I do at that point is icing on the cake, so to speak.

It's awesome. And what's crazy is I have a ton of fun doing it. It's so nice when you're an outsourced guy like me to create something from scratch on your own, having free reign to do what I do without limitations imposed by client demands or specifications. Take right now, for instance... 1am and working on this site and perfectly happy doing it. And the clients benefit from it as well, as it funnels traffic and members and search engine placement to them. win win!
