I have heard some people giving their models a copy of the photo and/or video set and some don't. What do you do or what is your opinion on this?
Thanks a bunch,

We offer the model a copy of the stills and any DVD that they are on, and also a lifetime membership to whichever website of ours they are on. Not all of the models take us up on the offer, but we're happy to provide them those that want them. For us, the cost is very little to do that, and it means a lot to many of the models.
I give them a year's membership to the site and their pics on a CD.
They understand they can't use the pics for profit - but they can put them on dating profiles, etc.
I have always given models free access to the website. Never directly given them copies of the photos or videos however.
Giving pics is not a good idea... sometimes model thinks about selling them himself... They also use pics to find another photographer.
I don't give them any of the images at all. Since I shoot for lots of magazines and especially Playgirl, they buy content exclusive. One of the photographers that shoots like I do did that once the model posted his images all over the place. The magazine found them and demanded the fees they paid for the set back.
What I do do is shoot some extra images (not part of the set or location) and give those to them if they want some.

I agree that its not a good idea.
If and when we pay them, the images are only for the paysite.
Unless they pay us to do a separate photoshot or some kind of other deal..
Thats a good point they I haven't thought of. Exclusive content deals could be ruined if the model runs around giving them out to everyone.
:joker:
We brand the photos we give them, so if they use a couple on profiles/homepages then it's the best kind of free advertising. "I like this guy, he's out of my league so there's no point messaging him, but I see I can get more of his pics at www.britishtwinks.com"
With over 400 models, I've never had anyone try and sell them on.
Great advice everyone, thanks.

I have to say im in two minds about this question.
On one hand, if you dont give them a copy of the shoots they may feel 'uncomfortable' that they have images of them in 'compromising situations' on the web and that may dissuade them from doing any further shoots but at the same time, it ensures that your content isnt being sold by a third party who really doesnt have any rights to sell it.
Yet on the other hand, by giving them a copy of the shoots they will feel comfortable knowing exactly what context the shoot will be used for and that in turn may compel them to return to do further shoots however, as mentioned above, it may also lead to them trying to not only sell the content but also approach other studios / producers about getting work from them too.
Personally, i dont see why, as long as it is made perfectly clear that the content is for their own private use and it isnt to be resold that models shouldnt be given a copy of not only the shoot but also a copy of the 2257 docs and model release form, if for no other reason than if there is ever a disbute from the model about what they did and didnt do you can tell them that you provided them with everything you shot and, they agreed to the shoot.
I would also think that any half-decent lawyer would be able to prove that you were above board if it needed to go to court because, you were open and gave the photoshoot to the model.
Just my thoughts on the question at hand anyway

Lee
We've never (yet) had a model look at their pics and decide they don't want to do more work, but I can see it happening if the model is iffy to begin with. On the contrary, while some of our models look at the pics and are like "Wow, it's really weird to see pics of myself nude" initially, most of them are actually really excited and delighted.
When I told our model Jesse that the Allboy with him on the cover was out, he didn't even wait for us to send him a copy... he rushed out to 3 adult stores in Toronto to find a copy, and was delighted to buy it (as was the owner of the store to be talking to the model in Allboy)
We do usually watermark the pics we give the models, and make it clear that they can't be used commercially or sold, but so far, we've never had a problem with a model misusing our pics.
All of our guys ask for copies of their pics and videos, and we're happy to do it for them. I haven't encountered any abuse at all. But we work primarily with amateurs for whom doing porn modeling is a thrill, so naturally they want to remember it.
In the past, we would give models copies of the pictures if they asked for them. We would also give them copies of the finished movies they where in. Most of the time they wouldn’t even ask, and if they did remember to ask it was weeks after the shoot. So the pictures where already marked with our watermark. Most of the time they only wanted them for their own little one page aol/geo city style site.
