PapaBear: As someone who runs "free sites" that make all their money from affiliate programs, allow me to suggest that you should approach this as if you were figuring out your website's revenue plan. The question is finding ad revenue to pay your bills.Originally Posted by GLBTcity

The tricky part is pinpointing ones that your specific website readers will spend their money on. The next tricky part is once selecting the program, what exactly do you write, or what banner do you use.... where will you place it?
Study your stats - do most of your readers surf in on the nyc.rr.com domain? or are they in Germany? Do they live around a jillion gay bookstores, or are they in Salt Lake City, UT?
You mention that you use AEBN to good success. The VOD product is ideally suited to selling on our websites. And there is also Naked Sword and Maleflixxx out there providing great programs. The thing about those three is that their product line-up is slightly different, and you want to sell each of them in specific ways.
I run a gay movie review website, so those programs are well suited for me. Your mileage may vary. I guess I could go into a specific run downs of those three if you want. But I guess my best suggestion to you would be that if you want to sell this stuff, you need to present it in some kind of new and interesting way to your readers.
*everyone* has seen that same 125x125 banner for SeanCody.com. I happen to blank that stuff out. You don't want your ads to be just background noise to your readers. Presentation is everything, so think of ways to entice that are different. I'll ask my friends what porn sites they know about... and what they are joining. What do you personally like? You are the salesman... what products are so good they sell something to the salesman?
If I can get sold on something, hopefully my enthusiasm transmits when I market its affiliate program myself.
Steve
