That is strange and that page definetly looks suspicous. I don't understand why anyone would benefit from doing that.

They burn out your daily budget and get rid of the competition.

Doesn't AdWords have some safeguards in place to prevent this kind of stuff?

    Nope. Not really.

A month or two ago, the WSJ ran a very enlightening front page column on click fraud on Google AdWords, and how advertisers are responding to it.

There are situations where down the line Google detects fraud, and refunds the Adwords account.

Could those clicks be coming from a google search box on those odd sites? I know they have some kind of program where the sites that send search traffic to google get paid on the adwords clicks they generate. There is a setting in your adwords account that prevents your adwords ads from appearing on off site searches...

In the campaign settings, there are check boxes for search network and content network, I think if you uncheck them, you are then only getting exposure directly on google search pages.

I don't know if that will get rid of those budget burners or not, but its a start.

I disabled 'content network' and 'search network' options quite some time ago. So why would I be getting so many hits from these cheesy looking search pages?

I beleive that google adwords considers those as "search sites"... Hmmm but I just noticed that you said that those are disabled too...

I would contact google adwords about that.

I had a problem with similar sites, (they were casino sounding domain names) a few months back however they appeared to be from the "content network" -- guess I had forgotten to disable getting traffic from those types of sites.
