i like the concept! , i'd start memberships at $ 24.95 U.S.D , Anything less and as you said surfers will think there is something wrong with it! ( keep in mind that your media is "exclusive" unlike the massive archives others have that share the same media. )
i'd skip "trial-memberships" altogether since most surfers can pretty much "download" everything within 2 days for the bargain basement price of $ 4.95 U.S.D

Yes, it IS rather annoying to see the same person buying the trial
once every two months and then sucking the site dry in one go!
(three times he's done that. But only that one guy, thank god.)

But, what happens CCBill-wise, if I remove the trial-membership,
while there's still active trialytes - that's gotta be a word

if you pull the trial links off your page, nothing happens regarding active trial guys. they either recur or they don't. there's nothing more involved with dropping your trial.

if you have enough content for guys to recur, you have enough content for a reasonable price. if you don't have enough content at all, then the price won't matter too much. the guys will want to see updates and for their membership to keep them busy.

how often do you update?

i'm shocked that you have one gig. each movie we do with all the different clips and formats and 1 full length wmv takes about 500 mb of storage.

I update every sunday (which is slowly developing into regular work )

1-5 clips depending on their size, around 50MB in all in the best (512K) resolution
(and then the same clips in 256k and 56k)
In all, that's around 20 minutes to last the perverts for an entire week

To date, I've only had "Satisfied Customer" as "reason" for canceling membership.
- which doesn't really make much sense...

ummm..."satisfied customer" is a good answer! , you don't want the opposite! and there probably too embarassed to let you know the real reason their cancelling is that "marthastewart.com" has opened a "martha's prison toys & devices collection" and they want to get in on it!

In all, several hundred, but only around 100 are cut and ready to go, so far..

I totally agree with whats been said in this thread, when we dropped trials a while back our overall signups fell by about 20% but those that joined stayed on average 50% longer so the overall effect was more money for everyone!

And I also think you are undercharging, try bumping your prices up and don't get too discouraged if you see a drop in sales, after all if you move to $24.95 you will need less than 1/2 the number of signups to be just as successful.
