Maybe I'm missing something but don't most people deposit checks through an ATM? I assume the checks are then routed to a processing plant somewhere (maybe Fresno or India) where some minimum-wage-slave, who's supposed to process 5,000 checks each hour, punches the numbers into a giant computer.

I look forward to the day when we don't have paper checks anymore. Of course they may be replaced by human implant tracking devices so the news is not all good.
