I use 2 methods, for pictures that open in a new window I open whatever ad I want to pop and the picture opens in a pop up console (so if they are using a blocker they only get the ad, not the picture) But if I do not want the picture in a new window I simply let them have the pic for a few seconds, then refresh to the advert, using a meta refresh.
