I've been wondering the same thing, but here's the reasons I believe it's not picked up by the mainstream media.

-The rules are too complicated to spell out in a soundbite.
-The number of webmasters involved is too small to be significant.
-Most people, even porn fans, believe that porn is already illegal.
-We're all too busy trying to save our own asses that we literally don't have time to put out press releases to the media.
-Publication schedules of magazines takes about 3 months to hit the stands.
-Media doesn't do investigative reporting anymore. If it's not shoved down their throats by publicists, they miss it.
-Rule of thumb in news, "If it bleeds, it leads." Until 2257 involves a controversial celebrity or dramatic video footage with a white Bronco, it won't get airplay.
