Video Frame Grabs - What's the best method?

Hey Guys. I'm need to take frame grabs from some videos that i've shot and i was hoping that someone could let me know how to go about doing this to achieve the highest quality grabs in the easiest way possible. I'm using Sony Vegas 5 for editing btw.

How are guys like Sean*Cody and Straight*College*Men doing this to get such amazing results (their grabs look almost like photo stills).

the higher quality your video, the higher quality your vidcaps. also you can work the pics in photoshop to make them look better.

I know there are many other options out there, but we generally use the single frame capture function built into Premiere, and pull straight from the .avi files. It allows storage in several formats, and the resulting file is large enough (500k - 1MB) to have pretty good resolution.

If the images need to be cleaned up, Adobe Photoshop's built in filters can work well in the hands of a talented Photoshop user, and GrainSurgery is another excellent plugin filter. ImageDoctor (another plugin) also has a good "jpeg repair" filter that has worked wonders with some very grainy old .avis that came from our older camcorder that wasn't so great with low-light scenes.

thanks a lot guys some really great feedback!!! I guess my only problem now is to find a better way to capture my vids so that they would retain the original high quality that i shot them at (refer to my other post Video Editing - Capturing Video at the Highest Quality...?).
