you obviously haven't been in the industry for too long...

True only Jan 2006 again I also promote you and not one sale on some of my other sites for almost 1 year and I get about 10,000 users a month to these other small sites. How many do I need to get a sale from you? One is a blog and the other a tgp site. Not saying that you don't sell that much just I just don't know how?? I use your codes and all. Also from the same sites I get sales to A.E.B.N..???
If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got.
You probably need to change sponsors and your approach. I find that contacting the sponsor for some help in how to sell them is a great start.
You can have all the traffic you want... If its not the correct traffic then you'll rarely make a sale. For instance if i send Tranny traffic to my gay foot fetish site (boyfeet.com) I might get one sale out of 10,000. On the other hand if i send Tranny Traffic to my all around fetish site (boyfetish.com) I might get a few more sales because that site encompasses more fetishes. Now if i send that same tranny traffic to a tranny affiliate site. I'm sure I'd get a few more sales due to I'm sending them to a place they like to visit. Then at that point it comes right down to if they are interested in those particular trannies. Now you ask me why I picked trannies as an example? hahaha I don't know! just did!
I have promoted sites that I don't make a sale on... I eventually move on. Sometimes my promotions don't work and others its the content I promote. Same idea for me with paysites. If i start a website and after a certain point its not selling.. Time to move on!
I suggest you concentrate on your traffic. it obviously needs to be a little more refined to what your particular niche is.
Does anyone remember when Twink was a niche! lol
Making $400 a day is EASY as an affiliate. 10 sales to a $35 PPS and you have $350.
We have one site with three employees. If we ever had a day where we only made $400 we would call it quits. I have some affiliates making $200 - $400 a day just marketing our one site.
Chubbs,
It's not that i feel it's rude. However, I will say that I lied. I do feel it being a little strange to allow Lee to see how each voted and not everyone else. So, I THINK I said $250-$500. Though that's not what I make. It just seemed like what most would choose. But, I was wrong.
I am not following your logic at all. For a paysite to make $400 a day, they could do it via the following:
$30 a month. 14 sales a day. That's $420. Assuming a 30 day month, that's 12,600 a month.
Take a 40% retention rate. Assume month two they do 14 sales a day. That's 20,160 for the month. or $672 a day.
See how it grows with the same sales level?
Say what?
If I only made $400 a day I'd quit. IF you know what you are doing, you can create sites and they run themselves and make money every single day.
I'm lost with your "15,000 users a year" comment. I have 30-50k surfers who visit one of my sites every single day. I have many, MANY other sites doing 5-10k hits a day, or surfers visiting every day. Are you referring to surfers visiting or signing up?
If you're not aware, one of the larger straight sponsors has a website that his 30,000 members in one month. MEMBERS. People who paid. THIRTY THOUSAND OF THEM IN ONE MONTH.
I know one man who is doing 100 sales a day from galleries. Depending on whether he does rev share or PPS, that's $1,500 to $4,000 PER DAY. I know another guy who solely does blogs and makes $1,000 a day and that's almost all from SEO.
Programs making $5,000 per day in sales are small fish. There are many sponsors doing 100-1000 sales per day and paying out $30 to each affiliate. If you add up memberships, upsells and cross sales, you're looking at a lotta money there.
I have a feeling you're either very new (though reading down further I see you are not) or just not very experienced with webmaster terms ("users?"), affiliate signups, or larger programs.
Now, granted, I work mostly in the str8 market in one niche, though I do run some gay sites because someone else chose to retire from the biz (insert nasty glare here) and I'll be selling some of those sites since I have no time to work on them. But I do see what my gay sales do and it took me a while to find the right sponsor in the right niches. And, it took a while to investigate and learn about the niche to market it properly.
I'm going to be doing a new site promoting Jasun's stuff and hope to be one of those affiliates bringing in $1,000 a week.
:)
I am also talking about the amount of support that it would take to handle that amount of customers. Right now just selling some other things on the net and with the small about of customers I get 3 to 4 calls a week but handling maybe 300 plus a month I would say that it would be very hard to do as I stated without a staff. Most everyone on this site is a part timer in this area and just don't see these kind of sales for one person. Any way I building my way up and soon will have ten tgp sites and counting, plus blogs and search engines all working to get me sales. I spend 12 hours a day on the computer 7 days a week and still not making a whole lot. So I guess I still have not hit that niche or internet gold!!!!
Not as much as you would think. MANY companies I believe are way too heavy on employees. We could easily double our sales and not hire another employee or add to our two server clusters. Companies need a plan for managed growth.
One could run a paysite with 10k members and five employees. One could also run the same site and 10k members and have 10 employees. It's all about how you set up the company and how automated you are.
As an example, I was a big seller on ebay and the support was driving me crazy. We invested $1,000 in a selling manager system and automated 80% of the customer support issues. Inventory got tracked, sales reports, listings got scheduled automatically, re listed, feed back left, all on auto pilot. An upfront investment in infrastructure will many times pay for itself 100 times over.
A little off subject, but if you invest in http://www.channeladvisor.com/ you will see how much less customer service you will need.
A shameless plug for some good video game deals...

Who are all these people making over $1,000 a day?
Ive been working online for like 6 years and I never met anyone making money like that. I met one girl making over $5k a month, but that was it
Well it seems there are alot of bullshit artist but then it is possible for some maybe less than 1% of 1% that may do this but you are talking in the 100,000's of of users a day to one site. I have been on the net starting in 93, I have had adult sites as far back as 91 on a bbs, I have not, but then I am sure there are ways if you have the bucks to start it. Money starts and bullshit can't. Figure that one out!! So I guess you can say I don't have the money to make it fast but it is crawling in slowly I turn, step by step, inch by inch.... Who's on first I don't know whats on first
Dear God! I am by no means a BIG player as an affiliate of programs. But, just yesterday one of my blogs made 7 sales to a PPS program that pays $35 a signup. That's over $200. As an affiliate I have about 20 blogs nows. Each one makes at least one sale a day to a PPS program. $1,000 a day is easy in this business. Pulling 20-30 sales a day to a PPS program is easy as hell with a good traffic network.
It's a lot harder with one centralized site. But with 1,000s of free sites, a good blog network, tgps, tgp galleries, and a shitload of AEN sites it's not hard at all.
There is one AEN that if you submit 8 sites a day and do it right, you can expect 3-4 sales a day. Easily. And that builds up over time after you get a network going.
If one knows Yahoo and Google enough, you can pull some amazing numbers through adsense as well.
As affiliate manager for BlakeMason, I can hinestly say we would be bankrupt if we did 1,000 a day.
IF BlakeMason had 100,000's of users to our site each day, i would retire next month.
Just 100,000 visitors would be $15k a day! 200,000 would be $30k a day! 300,000 would be $45k a day!
Pulling in 15k a day is not as hard as some may think. Ok. I need to keep my mouth shut.
So, visitors at blakemason monetize at $0.15 each. I suddenly feel really good about our conversions. Not that there aren't still some traffic sources whose conversions make me want to cry in frustration, but overall I feel really really good about our sex toy selling conversions now. Fantastic even.
If anyone needs to monetize their sex toy traffic, hit me up. Apparently it cashes out pretty well. Of course I won't make any promises, sales may vary with traffic quality, yada yada yada....
No idea really James. I was just looking at a 1:200 conversion on a $30 membership. Not taking into account any rebills. When you add in rebills and the higher price join options, that will go up dramatically. But, BlakeMason does convert affiliate traffic a little better than 1:200.
I guess my whole point was to make $1,000 a day, a paysite that charges $30 a month would have to make 33 sales. If the site converts at 1:200. That's only 6600 visitors. That's not even incuding any rebills or higher price join options. Getting 7,000 visitors to a paysite is not even remotely difficult.
I just don't buy the "it's bullshit that people make that money." We have affiliates making close to that a day.
Those that brag about how much they make are probably not making that amount of money. It's the quiet ones that don't say much that are making the bucks.
Though I think it would be easier to get 100,000 visitors to a paysite vs. a sex toy store.
You would be right. Sex toy stores probably do better because people click on the sex toy store link in the nav bar of the site they're on. They didn't think there was free stuff in that link. They thought that there was a store selling sex toys. Not everyone on a site is a potential sex toy customer, but it's good to serve those who are.
Of course, where the majority of your traffic comes from really does a lot to your conversions.
I will not talk smack about how much I earn. I can't even afford a blimp at this point. I'm stuck commuting to work in a car like some kind of chump. Some day I hope to rise out of poverty and be able to afford a blimp.
As I just finished saying, and here again is the proof. Here what, get me these sales and I will just keep 4,000 per month you can keep the rest for 1 year. 1000 a day bullsh........it.
I'll guess an average of $200.00 a day (mon - fri) and $800.00 (sat & sun) but that is based on a "full membership" of $24.95 that isn't 50/50 "split" with an affiliate and the website being "new" ( interpreted: I make more producing content! :) )

So, paysites gross $200 a day?
I really shouldn't be posting in this thread. The days of me making $1,000 a day in porn personally are over because I chose to work for a company.
In all seriousness, and I have no reason to lie, I know quite a few webmasters that are affiliates of various site and make 1,000 a day. Many did that just on tube sites. Some do it with a network of blogs. One blogger I know has over 500 blogs that are on auto pilot and another 100 or so that are hand written.
But, $200 a day for a paysite with a good affiliate base would be real low imho.
At the end of the day, the guys that are really making the bucks are not really on the boards bragging about what they make or how they make it.
really talking about the guy working from his bedroom or got a small 2 man shop with a few sites. Not huge companies that well do 10,000 sales a day and about 50,000 affiliates or more and there are a few and so far I won't mention any names but these are the only sites that seem to keep paying me. All others well I can't say much as most I and working with on a different marketing plan. Which is new
500 Blogs??? hmmm all auto I would think so try and manage one manually! Yes that to me is the only way to really make it today also the three most important things to have TRAFFIC TRAFFIC TRAFFIC. in a nut shell. Split that up with 10,000,000 adult websites let see 100,000,000 users going to adult websites thats 10 mil to a mil or is that the other way around 100 mil sites: to 10 mil users cheekymonkey:
It's all about automation (scripts) to get traffic. If an affiliate has automated his business he will do well. There are millions of gay surfers that log on the internet everyday to buy porn and even more straight surfers.
If I can manage 20 hand written blogs, anyone can. Just spend a few hours one day and do all your posts for the week at once. G traffic is pretty damn good.
You are looking way too much into this with that logic. Innovative ideas and sites will convert traffic. In the 10 years I have been in this biz I never thought once about how many gay guys surf in one day. All I knew is how much traffic I could generate, send to a sponsor, and what I converted at. That's all that really matters.
Hell, maybe I will start a blog called, "On my way to $1,000 a day". It can be done.
Sure why not? We are about to launch 100-150 automated blogs and its no problem with the correct script. Our long term goal is to build a network of more than 1000 blogs which is also possible. And making 1000$ per day is not a huge amount in adult biz if you look at the big guys....
Sure thing. We are using 3 scripts to make sure the blogs are fully automated.
Blogs Organizer manages all the blogs and manages the templates and all the stuff.
Blogs Automater manages all the content. It pulls articles from RSS feeds and creates a pool of several thousand stories if you have enough feeds and publishes them randomly.
Links Organizer manages all the link exchanges, directory recips and and should help to get a descend PR on those blogs.
Those scripts will allow you to manage 1000 blogs or more if you figure out how to use them but they are pretty easy to configure and to use.
Have fun with it! ;)
I am using Blogs Organizer as well to launch a 3-500 site blog network. Not sure if I'll be using Blogs Automater or Links Organizer. Will post an update later on. Hopefully I'll be one of the $1000/day webmasters by teh end of the year. ;)

Here is why many don't think that 1k a day is possible. Those that are making don;t share how they do it.
Both of these two bloggers will be making 1k a day. And it wont be with a lot of work.
I agree. The days of doing things by hand are LONG gone where you will make 1k a day an affiliate unless you spend considerable time and money bulding a well branded sites with a good base of traffic.
It's like Ebay, which you sold on, automation! When I was running my games business we would list about 200-300 items a day. Not only did we list that many, we knew what the average selling price, the sell through ratio, and the best time to list the item. It was all done automatically.
When a customer checked out, they were offered cross sells of other items, feedback was left automatically, the customer was notified when we shipped automatically.
All we had to do was put an item in the database and the quantity we had and the selling program interfaced with research tools of the best time of day to list the item and gave us an idea of what price to charge. I could setup a whole month's worth of listings in one day.
So, those who embrace automation will make money. I compare porn to Ebay. I feel bad for the sellers that list each item individually, post feedback on theor own, notify when it's going to be mailed. OMG! I would go bananas. Those sellers will never be big sellers unless they are selling items over $100 ever time.
By make are we talking gross or net? $1000 a day in sales for a small site like ours is not a huge number at all and certainly won't put a Bentley in the driveway.
Overhead is a huge part of this question. If I were an affiliate making 750 bucks a day from my spare bedroom, I would be a happy guy (well from a living wage standpoint). I don't see how smaller companies could get by on less than 30k per month.
By the way, this poll doesn't specify whether it's how much you personally earn paid per day, or whether it's how much your company is making per day. And in the case of company profits, whether that's net or gross.
It might be interesting to make the poll a bit more specific and try it again.

There is so much money to be made in porn still.. we've just been so spoiled the last few years.
