Well put, Lisa. That's exactly how I feel on the matter.
Nobody likes abortion, even those who are pro-choice. It's not like people think, "Oh, if I forget to take my pill or use a condom, I can just run out and get an abortion."
Abortion is a necessary "evil."
I think that men should be allowed to participate in the debate for theological purposes, but they should have no right to enact laws regarding a woman's right to choose what happens to her body.
I want kids. I always have. If I was a guy who got a woman pregnant (Hey, it could happen!), I would be heartbroken if she had an abortion. And if she did not consult me in the matter, I would probably never speak to her again, because I do have a right to at least know about it and voice my opinion.
So, as a gay man, you wonder "what relevance does abortion have for me?"
Plenty, my friend. Homophobia and sexism go together like red beans and rice. Those who want to curtail women's reproductive rights are rarely friends to gays and lesbians either.
