I Quit Smoking!

Didn't want to jinx it last week, but I finally quit smoking :)

Lungs are actually feeling cleaner already and I can finally taste again!

One thing I did discover though, My German Shepard Lucky stank and needed a bath!

So yesterday I turned my bathroom into a 'U Wash Doggie' and we both got throughly soaked as she repeatedly shook off throught the entire process LOL

Pleased to say both owner, dog and bathroom, are all dry now and smelling FRESH!!

Congradulations! I quit too. I feel much better and I can actually jog for a good amount of time now!! Keep it up!

Great news to quit smoking! Congratulations you smell better, can smell the world around you better, can breathe better, and have a better chance of having normal teeth and your lungs wont look like this :groovy:

Hey ... must be something in the air.

I quit two weeks ago Monday. I had quit back in 2003 for a couple of years. Last year I smoked in Vegas, and then, I smoked in Phoenix, and Miami, then Vegas, and Phoenix again. I had managed each time to leave the cigs at the conference. Except at the last Phoenix I wasn't in great spirits, hating my life and whatnot, so when I arrived home, I just didn't stop again. I promised myself when I left the big MC I'd quit again. Two Mondays ago was quit day. And I'm seeing my trainer three times a week again. So I feel like I'm back on track.

Congrats Dave, stick with it. It's hard. If a hardcore three-packer a day like me can quit for a couple of years, anyone can quit. Go for walks, drink lots of water, and suck lots of ...

Congrats to Dave and to everyone who's quitting, quit, or working their way to quitting! The tobacco companies have spent billions to ensure their product is as addictive as possible, and so for those of you who have beaten back the nicotine monster... my most heartfelt respect and admiration.

I too have been smoking since i was 13yo and gave up 9 weeks ago and havnt looked back ! I joined the gym at the same time as giving up (not because i needed to - but because its important to find a hobby or a replacement to those cigs) and i feel so good for it too. Ive been putting away in a big vase the money i would normally spend on cigs etc and gee its adding up ! Not sure what i will spend it on but something just for me as a reward ! ;)

congratulations goes to you quiters, for being such ... quiters.

I did it the way of the cold turkey, September 2004, and only miss it only once and a while.

I do hope y'all continue along the path of the quiter.

It's one of the rare times that being a quitter is a good thing. LOL! :)

Good for you! I saw some anti-smoking commercial and I tell you makes me dont want to do that shit at all. If you can avoid it the better.

I agree that it must be something in the air. I myself have been working on quitting. Monday started week 5 since I last smoked. I was concerned that my downfall would be after eating and after sex. But so far, I've been doing ok after meals and haven't been getting any sex..... I've also started back in the gym after being out since the first of March. Things are finally settling down to a more managable level and I can spend time in the gym once again. I am determined to look fantabulous at the Forum in October!

Congrats to all of us who have decided to take this step towards better health. (gawd! Did that sound like a commercial or what!?!?!) Just one thing that we must never do! Become a reformed smoker. You know, one of those people who turn up their nose at the slightest hint of smoke. Wave their hand in front of their face as if that is going to scare the smoke away.

Wow - Never realized there was so many of us doing it at the same time :)

The tabacco companies must be hurtin' just with us quitting! lol

Ok, I'm going back to watching Knight Rider :) It's a hard life!!

Congrats! I'm on day four myself, and it's making me pretty crazy. I've smoked since I was 17 and I'm 26 now, yikes. I was a pack a day of lights guy, so don't have it as hard as some, but it's still making me mean and fidgety. I've been jogging and lifting weights, but the wierdest thing I've done to help is hoolahoop. It's good cardio and my lower back muscles suck so I need it, it really keeps me distracted, and I can do it for hours while I watch tv. I'm so wierd...

Wow. So many of you who smoked! What is it with this business and smoking? :)

You know, I never picked it up. Ever. Sometimes if I'm out drinking with friends who smoke, I'll have one, just for the hell of it. But I can smoke one or two cigarettes a month and never want another for six months.

My mom smoked like a chimney, so I think that had a lot to do with me being so against it. I found it to be a digusting, filthy habit, but more importantly, I realized early on that it was a "crutch" for my mother, something she did to "get through" the day. I immediately saw it as a sign of weakness, so I was comlpetely turned off to it. I have the same reaction to people who cling to religion. Anything people use as a "crutch" completely turns me off.

I honestly don't know where that comes from. I guess b/cuz my father was so strong-willed and just got out there and did stuff and never let anything hold him back, and never needed anything. He was just a self-made man who was independent and he was very down on my mother for her smoking, and I guess I followed suit. I could never be in a relationship with a smoker.

It's funny how gay guys will always say, "People who bareback are so fucking stupid," and then they'll light up a cigarette and take a big, long drag on it. LOL!

Anyway, I commend you guys for taking this VERY IMPORTANT step toward better health. It's not just physical health, but mental health as well. You will feel better about yourselves for having given up something that had such a power over your will. Being able to have your will to live a healthy, productive life overpower your addiction to something so damaging will only make you feel better about yourself. You'll like yourself much better. :)
