I'm not interested in your consumer newsletters

Memo to the people on this board who insist on grabbing my email addresses and subscribing me to their newsletters.

I'm not interested in your latest shopping deal as I'm a webmaster.

Moreover I'm not interested in shopping deals that have been unsolicited.

If however you'd like me to be an affiliate then you need to talk to me. Emailing me or PM'ing me would be a good start.

Of course, if you have spammed me in the past you probably won't get a response back from me as I've probably blacklisted you in my filters.

Find your subscribers elsewhere; like at your site or through co-regs.

Name names!

If someone is crawling GWW and grabbing email addies from posts i want to know so i can make sure their registration gets pulled!

What I hate is when you e-mail a webmaster one-on-one for a particular reason, correspond a bit, and then they end up throwing you on to their mailing list.

Like... e-mailing a webmaster to discuss a particular business subject doesn't mean I want the newsletters you send your members.

That drives me nuts.

Today's offender is pornteam.com

I still have their spamletter in my box. I also have their email notifying me that I've unsubscribed; I decided to try unsubscribing from their list.

I'm hoping that they will actually honour unsubscribes.

Ahh I don't feel so special and singled out now.

Hmmm.... as far as I know, there are havesting bots that automatically search internet pages for email addresses. They don't have to be members of this board to do this. As long as the pages are crawlable, they will get your email... It's wrong of those spammers to do so, no doubt, but I don't think it has anything to do with the board per se.

If it's a spammer that promotes paysites and spams me, in any email address, I usually report them to the sponsor. None of the major sponsors allow spam, and it leads to the spammer's account being shut down.

Chris at Pornteam is a good guy that we've done business with for years. I'm sure if there's any problem, you can just email him directly and he'll take care of it immediately. I'm surprised that he'd be lifting names off of GWW -- particularly since he and I were comiserating about a DVD distributor that used to add you to their spam list after a single email to them -- so perhaps there's another explanation.

Yeah I'm sure he is. Like I said -- I used the unsubscribe link - got my confirmation email. And blocked their email in spam assassin. Hopefully that should be the end of that.

I'm just tired of getting spam from members of the same forums that I frequent. Regardless of how they got the email address.

Anyway I think as far as I'm concerned this thread can :rip: or at least my participation in it as I don't feel like going on and on about it. :)

Hey guys, we have a double opt in list, we dont jsut ramdonly add people to the list. We have been using PHPlist the last few months and have not found any problems with it yet. I know in the past, we have had surfers add other users, of course this was before we started double opt-in 4 years ago. Please let me know if the the problem contiunes as we will begin looking at PHPlist.

I just like everyone else dont like unwanted emails. Our newsletter shoudl only be going out to those people that want it.

ok boys figured it out and I'm sorry. Someone just recently took over sending the emails for me and they have been sending the cusomer email to all of our lists. Which it looks like you were a member of our webmaster list for having a listing in our gay search engine site GayInsider.com.

So I am sorry about that, tomorrow I will have a talk with them and make sure they are not sending it to all of the lists from now on.

Shame not to feel special....but I get there crap also. And, if I recall when they send our their newsletter I get it 3 times!
