Alright, so I am purchasing a CMS for my site this weekend. I was wondering what you guys though, SiteDepth or Awiz. I have looked into both, and SiteDepth looks to be SUPER user friendly, but in the past I have heard of people recommending AWIZ.. So, which one do you think is better?
awiz was good for me HOWEVER i didn't use the most recent version.
i believe DEVELISH is workin on a cms right now. why not talk to him? maybe you can suggest some stuff and get in on the ground floor...
I hope it isn't too soon to give this a BUMP. I would really be interested to hear peoples reasons behind using the one that they do.
And, basschick... good idea, I haven't ever talked to devilsh before, but I will..
I have had a lot of issues with SD including security issues (which are currently under investigation by the SD team and a hired expert), we switched to AWiz.

I've been having security issues, too, and coincidentally, I have SD as well.
I'm switching over to an open source cms called Joomla.
You guys with security issues... is there anything to help those out? I really like the ease of use of SideDepth.
To the credit of the SiteDepth team, they launched an investigation and hired a security expert within 24 hours of the issue arising. But its only been a short time, so as far as I know, the security investigation is still going on.

Finally, when we found the hole and locked everything down, the auto-update feature in SD wouldn't work. if carma is the one i'm thinking of, i don't care for it from a member standpoint. the way the pages load is annoying - at least, it is to me.
Carma is something like $3500 to buy or $150/month to lease. (that is a per-site cost.) It looked interesting and flexible to us when we got the demo, but it did not have 2257 documentation support and was entirely Smarty driven, which required our web guy to have some understanding of Smarty.

For a LL, directory, ect Joomla rocks, but at the moment it hasnt been developed to a state were running a members area on it would be easy.

As a reply to you Dean, I bought Awiz first, and it was, quiet honestly, basic, and rubbish IMHO. I moved to SD and have had very few problems, and most of the small problems i did have were of my own making.
Awiz is great, if you are poor, and whats something basic to run a small time paysite. If you however have bigger plans, and want a user-friendly control pannel to organise your updates, content ect, and an easy templating system to make your members areas look great in no time, then SD in my opinion is the best bet.
You could also look at Carma from TooMuchMedia, althought the one thing i will say aside from it being a powerfull piece of kit, is that its FAR from user-friendly.
I tried Awiz and it is J-U-N-K! without multiple upgrades and paid enhancements, it is seriously useless. I really take issue when any product is gender or straight specific (which Awiz assumes models are female).
Their customer support is pretty lacking as well.
We been using sitedepth for some time no problems so far. Easy to learn and use.

I don't send you to read testimonials from the real clients on aWIZ site - well, maybe you have reasons to not trust the testimonials sections. But even on this board you can find a lot of opinions from aWIZ clients, which are more competent than this liar.
As to the security questions.
Let me pay your attention that probably aWIZ is the only adult-CMS which has launched the "Self-protection control" in the latest version. Thus now any kind of viruses/trojans injection and other unauthorized modifications in members and admin areas - are a big problem for hackers.
As to the easiness of usage, let me invite you to check new admin-area:

You did, with only a couple of days delay, install your software onto my server perfectly. I was on a budget at the time, so you seems to be a good option to get me off the ground with my first paysite.
I started to build my paysites members area on your software. I spend about 3 days working at it, but no matter how hard i tried, i could not achieve a members area that:

I moved to sitedepth, and my god, i love it. Omar, the owner is a great guy, and has helped me so many times.
The software is powerful, provides great features, and more features are being added all the time.

If you are our client, you can draw a conclusions from real correspondence, no reason to conjecture about email-support by the post concerned another person, blacklisted in the service.

During 2 last years we always install the script within 1 work day. You said that installation took "a couple of days". Well, let's look: you have ordered the script at March 2, have paid at March 2, and installation report has been sent to you ... at THE SAME day: March 2. Please clarify, where there is "a couple of days"? Thank you.

Please clarify what exactly does mean "script was not powerful enough" and "Cheap = Less Quality"?
Does something in the script is not working? If so, did you contacted our support and didn't get solving of your problems?
I have found your order's correspondence, and can say that if you contacted us from your licensed email only - ...sorry but I don't see any messages from you after installation, excluding the only your auto-response...
I am sorry if you got a problems, but did nothing to solve them, although the support was and is open to help you. But for now I don't see any grounds to be indignant with the script or support.
I believe the consensus on this thread speaks for itself.

I really like awiz support, I bought their script about 4 years ago. When i contacted them about 6 months ago they were extremely helpful and upgraded me to their latest version for free. I didn't have to pay for the upgrade, the install or the support - 4 years after I bought it.

I bought it but it does not quite meet my needs since I do not want a table which holds my pics - I would like to be more flexible. Pitty I didn't realize that before shelling out the money.
But USING: No, neither of both.

We have still not had any resolution on the sitedepth security issue. As a result, I cannot recommend this product (or any product that has a security hole that allows phishing and spamming scripts to be uploaded and run).
Personally, I was using both but after this security issue I ripped out sitedepth and only use awiz.

Thought I would do a couple of updates since I started this thread. I had SiteDepth installed over the weekend, and I am very happy with it so far! The support seems to be very fast, and it is really easy to use!
Support is excellent for both sitedepth and awiz, very fast and both companies were really good about making a few minor changes for no extra costs.
But has the sitedepth security issue been fixed? I haven't heard back about this.

Haven't heard anything about security upgrades to Sitedepth either.
While this debate has been raging, we have been building a new site with Joomla - with member section, free personals, free forums and tons of available plug-ins. You'll all hear about it soon. ;-)

I can't answer those kind of questions, I'm technically challenged, so I hired contractors to build the site for me. I think the gallery generator called Tiny Web Gallery, which is an open source plug-in.

This is Alfredo From SD, To reply to a couple of the issues that had been posted here, SD did have a security issue back on SD3 which was reported about 5-6 months ago, when this was reported, we were in the process of building our newly SD4, and this was fixed under this version, which was released internally ( not publically ) to all exisiting members within our contact list, and to every customer contacting us for support ( we were actually performing the upgrades on every support request ), the reason why we didnt ( nor havent ) release this version publically is due to the fact that we are still writting the tutorial pages which are almost finished and therefore this version will be released publically. With regards of Mark's problem, if I remember correctly, he was indeed using SD4's version which had the patch applied, and we even placed a htaccess password for him on the folder to further secure the installation, however he was still getting hit, obviously from other sources which he later confirmed on a ticket reply.
That said, if anyone thinks that he may have found another security issue or is in doubt if his copy of SD is has the appropiate patch I invite them to contact us directly and we will gladly check the installation for you and upgrade/patch where necessary, or assist in fixing any new issues found.
