    Joomla for a members area CMS?

    Being rather experienced with Joomla myself, im wonding how you are planning to do that? Enless you are planning to develop Joomla modules yourself, there is no easy to control photo/movie sets, updates, ect.

    For a LL, directory, ect Joomla rocks, but at the moment it hasnt been developed to a state were running a members area on it would be easy.
    (i looked into it with great depth).

    As a reply to you Dean, I bought Awiz first, and it was, quiet honestly, basic, and rubbish IMHO. I moved to SD and have had very few problems, and most of the small problems i did have were of my own making.

    Awiz is great, if you are poor, and whats something basic to run a small time paysite. If you however have bigger plans, and want a user-friendly control pannel to organise your updates, content ect, and an easy templating system to make your members areas look great in no time, then SD in my opinion is the best bet.

    You could also look at Carma from TooMuchMedia, althought the one thing i will say aside from it being a powerfull piece of kit, is that its FAR from user-friendly.

    I tried Awiz and it is J-U-N-K! without multiple upgrades and paid enhancements, it is seriously useless. I really take issue when any product is gender or straight specific (which Awiz assumes models are female).

    Their customer support is pretty lacking as well.

    LOL!
    I have found this order by his profile data and would like to tell you guys how it was. Unfortunately we know such rare and foul category who tries to get both: script and money back.

    This man never used the script, he just lied to us right after installation, namely:
    "script is not working properly", however NEVER contacted our support about any problems, and even couldn't explain none problem he got. The only thing I can guess - there was no real problem with the script. He just demanded his money back by any way, against of License signed by him, and notwithstanding the fact that script was installed in time, was tested and worked fine.
    Then he started to lie another thing: "The script was never installed" (LOL!), however ALL installation data was sent to him, and he 100% got it since it was quoted in his next replies.

    Then he began to lie to the billing, that script "was never installed" and has snatched out his payment, just because billing (as well as we) prefers to has no deals with such kind of crap. We always made a screenshots of installed script, and if you guys wish, I can post the screen of his correctly installed script right now and right here.

    And now he try to lie here about the thing he doesn't know. If you appreciate the "ponderable" opinion from such "client" - that's as you please

    As to the "which Awiz assumes models are female" - it's a medical case, HOW for script does matter male, female, landscapes and etc?

    "Their customer support is pretty lacking as well" - notwithstanding that EACH of his numerous requests was responded in details at the same day...

    I don't send you to read testimonials from the real clients on aWIZ site - well, maybe you have reasons to not trust the testimonials sections. But even on this board you can find a lot of opinions from aWIZ clients, which are more competent than this liar.

    As to the security questions.
    Let me pay your attention that probably aWIZ is the only adult-CMS which has launched the "Self-protection control" in the latest version. Thus now any kind of viruses/trojans injection and other unauthorized modifications in members and admin areas - are a big problem for hackers.
    As to the easiness of usage, let me invite you to check new admin-area:
    http://v5.awizsoft.com/images/screen_v52.jpg
    100% of new clients find it friendly and easy to use.

    My friend, that reply was aweful. If thats how all your support emails are constructed, i would to have asked for my money back. My english isnt great, but that takes the piss.

    Aside from attacking tony sparks, and trying to shut down his honest post, let me type a few truths about your software.

    ====

    You did, with only a couple of days delay, install your software onto my server perfectly. I was on a budget at the time, so you seems to be a good option to get me off the ground with my first paysite.

    I started to build my paysites members area on your software. I spend about 3 days working at it, but no matter how hard i tried, i could not achieve a members area that:

    1. I was happy with as a site owner.
    2. I would be happy with as a surfer paying money to sign up for a site.

    Now this wasnt down to "skill" if thats how you wish to put it. It was a simple fact that your script was not powerful enough to provide a members area of good enough standard to support the site i wanted to offer my paying customers.

    In all honesty i should have known i was getting what i was paying for.

    Cheap = Less Quality.

    ------

    So, i didnt argue with you, i didnt charge-back, i moved on. You still have my money

    I moved to sitedepth, and my god, i love it. Omar, the owner is a great guy, and has helped me so many times.

    The software is powerful, provides great features, and more features are being added all the time.

    ----

    If you are shopping for a CMS (dean i know you have already decided what you are going for and good choice my friend) , ALL i suggest is realising

    "you get what you pay for" :cheekymonkey:

    samebb: I am appreciate your opinion, your aspiration to uphold the honour of a partner. But let me hope you will leave me a right to defend the product's reputation we put our soul, from the liars and swindlers. BTW, if day after day we spend our life to prove that "Cheaper is not always worse"!

    If you are our client, you can draw a conclusions from real correspondence, no reason to conjecture about email-support by the post concerned another person, blacklisted in the service.

    Next.
    During 2 last years we always install the script within 1 work day. You said that installation took "a couple of days". Well, let's look: you have ordered the script at March 2, have paid at March 2, and installation report has been sent to you ... at THE SAME day: March 2. Please clarify, where there is "a couple of days"? Thank you.

    Next.
    Please clarify what exactly does mean "script was not powerful enough" and "Cheap = Less Quality"?
    Does something in the script is not working? If so, did you contacted our support and didn't get solving of your problems?
    I have found your order's correspondence, and can say that if you contacted us from your licensed email only - ...sorry but I don't see any messages from you after installation, excluding the only your auto-response...
    I am sorry if you got a problems, but did nothing to solve them, although the support was and is open to help you. But for now I don't see any grounds to be indignant with the script or support.

    I believe the consensus on this thread speaks for itself.

    awiz=trouble
    sitedepth=satisfied customers

    Enough said.

    I really like awiz support, I bought their script about 4 years ago. When i contacted them about 6 months ago they were extremely helpful and upgraded me to their latest version for free. I didn't have to pay for the upgrade, the install or the support - 4 years after I bought it.

    thats pretty good!

    I bought it but it does not quite meet my needs since I do not want a table which holds my pics - I would like to be more flexible. Pitty I didn't realize that before shelling out the money.

    But USING: No, neither of both.

    We have still not had any resolution on the sitedepth security issue. As a result, I cannot recommend this product (or any product that has a security hole that allows phishing and spamming scripts to be uploaded and run).

    Personally, I was using both but after this security issue I ripped out sitedepth and only use awiz.

    cheers,
    Luke

    Thought I would do a couple of updates since I started this thread. I had SiteDepth installed over the weekend, and I am very happy with it so far! The support seems to be very fast, and it is really easy to use!

    Support is excellent for both sitedepth and awiz, very fast and both companies were really good about making a few minor changes for no extra costs.

    But has the sitedepth security issue been fixed? I haven't heard back about this.

    cheers,
    Luke

    Haven't heard anything about security upgrades to Sitedepth either.

    While this debate has been raging, we have been building a new site with Joomla - with member section, free personals, free forums and tons of available plug-ins. You'll all hear about it soon. ;-)

    Could you share a small piece of information?

    How are you managing galleries/video galleries for a members area with Joomla, specifically, which Modules have you selected, or have you had your own developed?
