Why Dont We See More Male Models/Cammers On The Boards?

Ive never understood why we dont see more male models/talent/cammers on a lot of the industry message boards, i mean sure, there are heaps of women posting that have their own solo sites, content shoots and webcam shows that post but hardly any guys, in fact i can only think of 2 or three off the top of my head and one of those is no longer in the business.

Any idea why this is, do male models simply not care about promoting themselves on the boards or do you think they dont see a value in doing so?

I would hazard the guess that a lot of gay guys, particularly twinks, are incredibly lazy, and more interested in partying, getting laid, etc., than actually doing the work necessary to promote themselves. The models that do post here are the ones that are actively involved in their businesses... Pierre and Skyler, for example, are both cultivating relationships, learning about the mechanics of a site, etc. Most of the others show up and post a few times and then disappear. And... quite frankly, I think that at least some of the models, even the ones with solo sites, aren't the brightest crayons in the box.

I also think that of the gay boards that actually get a fair amount of traffic, much of the discussion tends to be focused on business issues, technical issues, that sort of thing... where, by contrast, GFY is full of "would you hit it" and the like, so models can contribute more to the (worthless) threads there.

Skyler and I talk all the time, and he reads the boards, but one of his frustrations is that because he's still learning the business side of things, he doesn't feel like he has a whole lot to contribute to most of the threads. You'll notice that when there's a thread with something he does know about, he usually does contribute. I suspect that will change a lot as he learns more about the admin and business side of the industry.

You should suggest to him to post his opinions as somebody who doesnt know whats going on :).

May sound stupid, but sometimes when you "know" .. or "think" you do, you miss things.

I think it would be great to get more comments around here from a less business related person.

Another point, if he doesnt understand, he could contribute to the threads by asking questions that may help him understand :D Im sure most people here are happy to help anyone with questions.

I always wonder why so many sites use the same male models over and over. Especially in niche sites. It's like you can only convince a handful to pose on a site that's more "out there". Even if what they're doing isn't really that shocking.

And someone should encourage them to come to the boards more. So many fans of their "work" see then as unapproachable and inaccessable.

With the exception of microniches (redhead twinks that like feet or something) I doubt it's a lack of models. More likely, it's laziness on the part of the webmaster, or s/he is either doing the model, is friends with the model, etc.

We will use a model repeatedly when the model is popular, but even so, we try to be careful to not saturate any one model, and not shit out the content in rapid succession. That's one of the reasons that I think Sammy Case and a few other twink models "burned out" so fast... they worked with a ton of sites who shit out a ton of content, and the audience got tired of the model.

I believe that can happen to a lesser extent with models that work for just one studio... you might like so-and-so from somebigcollegejocksite.com but if there are 25 scenes of that model, he is all over the tour and the ads and banners... people will get tired of him.

Chip hit it on the head with almost everything that he has stated.

I like to think of myself as level headed, as well as intelligent. ( I graduated top of my class and am putting myself through school) But, majority of the time I get on here and read almost EVERYTHING that is posted, but still it is difficult for me to form an opinion or even a response for that matter, because a lot of this stuff is completely foreign to me.

I am learning, I am trying, but it is just taking me some time.

The computer aspect of things has never been something I have been interested in, in any element of my life, but it is very prevalent here, so I am trying.

I am more interested in the business side of things, but again I am still new to it all.

Another thing when discussing my experiences on these boards is how heated things get. I feel as though some of the discussions are very touchy and if I even try to interject something that I may get (for lack of better terms) eaten alive. That people would attack me because I am just some “stupid, lazy twink” I really don’t want that to happen.


I really do read nearly all that is posted and I am learning, but just treading slowly for now… soon enough I will be more active.




When it comes to Chip’s stereotype on twinks… he is correct. But, stereotypes are meant to be broken… there are a few good ones out there… I like to think of myself as one of the few.

Being a model on the boards is more difficult than one might think, but I am always up for communication as well as suggestions feel free to PM me at any time.

Having a viewpoint from a model is something non of us could really comprehend unless we had been in front of the camera ourselves and im certain from the brief conversation I had with Skyler in Vegas that he could add some iinteresting viewpoints to a lot of the conversations we have around here.

Sometimes i often wonder what it would be like having a true surfer add to some of the discussions we have, im really sure that would be an eye opener for many of us too.

Well, in our case we use a lot of the same models over and over because we like to use models that are actually INTO THE FETISH of spanking. I think by using models that are into it, the product comes out better. Granted, we do use a lot of "one time, only here for the money" type guys...but I prefer to use people that are like minded.

I will agree here with what Skyler and Chip have said. I myself am still relatively new to things. I find that this board is a HUGE resource, and read it often, and have learned a vast amount from it.

Agreeing with Skyler, on some of the more touchy issues, I don't want to interject my opinion sometimes for fear of, as his exact words, being eaten alive! Also, there are other times when people ask questions, that I don't feel I know enough about some of the topics to offer the best advice on. However as time goes on, and I gain more experience, I will over up advice and opinions more and more.

I think almost every person on this board has taught me some things in one way or another, and I am always around with open ears and appreciate everything!

With a niche paysite like yours, I am sure that subscribers and future subscribers fully understand the limited number of models. Do not fret.

The comment from Space Glider retains much value. As the adult industry evolves and consolidates, certain popular models seem to be seen everywhere, unless under contract.

What happened to the good old days when program owners actively sought and searched for new models? Talk of being lazy, I think many wannabe porn stars now submit only to the popular programs.

Someone should create a gay porn wannabe model site. I envision posts like I was denied at such and such... and I bet via the service, they find the work they seek - maybe even being spanked at TropixxxStudios.

That went out of the window when programs started using exclusive content as a tool to attract affiliates and not paysite members.

You are right though, when sites with exclusive content were built with the paysites members in mind, you would be very hard pushed to find the same model on more than 1 site, now it seems you can find a model from one reality style site, on 100+ others.

Dont forget that many programs these days are struggling to attract new webmasters, because the ones with the traffic already have lucrative traffic deals setup with the sponsors they currently use... A nice way of trying to attract these affiliates away from their current programs is telling them that SiteName.com has 'exclusive' content which they do however, exclusive content doesnt sell as well as it used to any more to surfers, exclusive models do, which is another reason why i would think more models would be posting on the various industry boards, especially those that have camshows.

There are definitely some gay porn wannabe sites, including adulthire.com (VERY janky, it's a kludged-together patch of an employment agency script) and three or four others whose names escape me.

We have amassed a pretty large database over the years (something over 2000 applicants) and somewhere on our project list is to revamp the script that drives the database so that we can make the information available to select studios. It will probably function as a more personalized referral on a case-by-case rather than an open database as Adulthire does, because many of those open database sites tend to attract creepy guys looking for sex rather than recognized studios, and our goal would be to provide good models for serious studios, and reliable studios for models who are serious. The other problem is, of course, in some cases "recognized studio" and "creepy guy looking for sex with the model" are synonymous, so we would probably try and do something to root out that as well.

But... there are a lot of guys looking to model, and a lot of studios looking for models. Shouldn't be that hard to find the right way to put the two together and do it right.

I started off in this industry as a model, and have since retired that title and moved onto webmaster. The average male model in this industry is not interested in promoting themselves. They want their money for fucking some hot dude in a tropical location. That's the appeal to them, not sitting at a computer reading about website stuff.

Chip is right, once again, that there are plenty of guys out there that want to model. I suppose laziness does sometime creep in when I have the choice between having a new model or using someone I know. Sometimes other factors creep in as well.

We shoot mostly out of our home. I can't help but think of the Cobra mess everytime I send mapquest directions out to someone on the internet. Is it fear? I don't think so...but I am a lot more comfortable using guys I know already.

For me it was a question of security . Both the the bro and I modeled a LOT while I was in the navy, always with the one studio, to keep regular bucks and a low profile. When the navy finally caught me, just as I was about to get out , I was fortunate the studio was willing to spend a few grand on a great military savvy attorney to drag out proceedings til my regular exit date and honorable discharge. Now that the navy is over and done with , I 'm launching TWO video lines on my own , military and ethnic, as well as web content / paysites

It is the reason I joined your board, to learn a bit about websites, as an adjunct to my offline video production companies. I'm looking for good distributors and web partners . Having said all that, yes, most "twink" models espeically , are not military or college material. It's "Wham bam, thank you Sam "

Early on, I used to worry about that a lot as well, especially when Ryan was in San Diego and I was in the bay area and each of us shot content by ourselves with just the model present. These days, there are at least two of us for each shoot, and if there's even the slightest indication of anything unusual, we will meet the model in a public place first. (Sometimes the model asks for this as well, and it's always amazed me how many models don't even give a thought to safety and will go whereever you you tell them to go without a second thought.)

The affidavit supporting Harlow's arrest in the Kocis murder indicated that there were at least three loaded guns within 20 feet of where Bryan was killed, so even his own actions to protect himself didn't help. I'm sure a lot of those of us involved in content production are carefully rethinking their strategies and approaches as far as safety.

And what you're saying is pretty depressing. I'd like to think most of these models had a bit more the entrepreneurial spirit. I know this is the adult entertainement industry, but does EVERY single thing have to come down to sex?

I am here as well. I do agree that many models are lazy and don't really want to work to promote themselves, but I think another part of it is many models want the money but don't really want a lot of people to find out that they do this because they are afraid of what other (expecially parents) might say.

Anyways, that's just what I think and what I've seen from talking to other models.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I have only ever modeled for the one studio and when my time was up with them, I wasn't sure if I would ever be comfortable working for someone else. That was the biggest reason for me moving from in front of the camera to behind it. If my interest ever stirs up again, I'll definitely drop you a line :bananacock:
