Has Your Business Model Changed At All In The Last Year?

I was curious to find out if any of you folks had changed your business model over the past 12 months based on what is currently going on with the economy?

For example, are you now concentrating on driving more visitors to your own products vs. products offered by your chosen sponsor programs?

Are you now finding that you are opting to go with PPS over revshare or vice versa?

Has the direction on the type of site you build changed, galleries to free site, free sites to AEN sites, AEN sites to paysites for example?

Those of you with your own paysites, are you concentrating more on retaining your existing customers or more on new customers, has retention even been worked on any more than what it has been?

I must admit, the last couple of week i have seriously considered changing business models from the typical 'revshare' model of getting new members to my sites and keeping them retaining to getting them inside my sites and trying to send them off to other programs and letting the other programs worry about retention etc.

I have also found myself putting more of my time towards our non-adult businesses than i have typically done in the past because our non-adult ventures still seem to have been unaffected so far by the economy.

So what about you folks, have you noticed anything you are or have been doing different over the past 12 months compared to what you did previously when it comes to your business?

    Regards,

    Lee

    This is my plan

I plann on doing what has always worked for us which is getting a member and keeping them for those rebills. As we all know, the hardest part of selling is getting the initial sell...after that it is a walk in the park. Keeping them buying month after month is the key...so...

Working on giving more updates. Showing them how we offer more (thus creating customer loyalty), and simply giving them the quality vs quantity that others try to do.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it" as my grandmother from the Ozarks would always tell me. God bless her, she lived threw the great depression and I learned me a thing or two from her!

Normally i would agree with you but we're in a different economic time right now, getting new members has actually become a lot easier than it used to be, whilst ensuring those members retain is what is becoming nearly impossible to do as these members are no longer certain if they will have money for porn 'next month' when it comes time to rebill, or even have a job to pay their bills.

Im seeing a lot more failed rebills over the past few weeks, an extraordinary amount of them in fact, compared to this time a year ago and members seem to be cancelling their membership quicker to and stating 'other' as the reason for their cancellations.

I think retaining members is the new 'getting the initial sale' as everyone starts to realize that the income they currently have, might need to be used elsewhere.

    Regards,

    Lee

    Well

I do know what you are saying...of course, as the economy erodes each month those worthy of credit get smaller and smaller BUT that is my point. There is always going to be a percentage of members who have steady income and can afford to be members (perhaps retired pensioned members with little to worry about). I think that those are the ones to cater to with quality!

Even in the best of times there are always those who just sign up with no intention to stay members and who wants them! Don't even give me that first signup if you don't intent to stay for the long term!

Ultimately but thankfully we are surviving through the economic downfalls.

With our membersites we are seeing that members will sign up or join for an initial trial such as a 30 day membership. They will stay for 2-3 rebills then they will cancel. However with that said, we are seeing our members who have canceled return on a later date such as 30-60 days later, they will stay for a month, then they will leave. To me this is pretty common. We also see members join for a 30 day period, stay for 30 days, then they will leave.

It's posted on another thread here that I initiated about us doing away with the DRM protection. Members nowadays want to join a site, get everything they possibly can before the rebill, then they leave.

We have branched out more over the past several months with developing a DVD Download to own site, more membersites, working ultimately with Hot Movies and AEBN (as well as the other small players).

We have even terminated deals with some of the small video on demand providers to further expose our products with the larger providers.

We have more that is preparing to release by the end of the summer such as a pay per minute module, a clips to own site, and several other different ventures.

We are pretty close with other studios at working hand and hand together as a team in developing different venues.
Many studios are feuding with one another whereas we that work with the others are more like a tight family. Thus, this has aided in our survival through the rough economic turnarounds contributing to our survivals but yet success.

Being closer to the bottom of the food chain in the biz, I'm going conservative for the most part.

Cost cutting - even more so than already done - on the thesis that we can reasonably expect changes in credit card habits.

I'm anticipating some rapid changes in the overall model of net business, and my primary interest has become landing on my feet on the other side of the turbulence.

Hmmm - sounds a bit depressing I guess. But I think we are seeing a seismic shift in the complex system of economic culture.

IF you decide to do AVS Sites, I highly suggest Mansites, UGAS, and AdultCheck.
