The stories of John's sexuality in this town (Hollywood) are quite legendary by now. One story I heard was that he liked to take young pretty things up in his personal plane for trysts. Interesting that this pic is taken an an airport...Of course, maybe John's growing up, and this guy reflects that.
It's also obvious to anyone with a brain that Kelly Preston, John's beard -- um, wife -- is not the most feminine woman in the world, and has played NUMEROUS gay roles in her career. Like 5 or 6 of them. Coincidental that she keeps accepting -- or perhaps going after -- these types of roles? You decide.
I don't think it's possible to say what kind of kiss this is. Lovers kiss very quickly on the lips as well. That pic could mean anything. But the whole European thing doesn't jive with me: John's American. And European men kiss on the cheek, not on the lips, right?
Anyway, I think it's funny to hear someone say "Who cares if John Travolta is gay?" Everyone cares. Celebrities in that league -- the A-listers league -- coming out would have a pretty big impact on how the world at large views gay people based on their "personas." If Tom Cruise were to come out, just think about the public impact that would have. Rock Hudson coming out did a lot to shatter stereotypes in the '80s. Ditto for Greg Louganis. I think that by and large the world has realized that gay people come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and varieties of personality (queeny vs. masculine, etc.), but if major A-list celebrities were to come out, it would have a profound impact on not only the way the maintream viewed us, but also how some of us view ourselves.
Not that I need a celebrity to validate my sexuality. But it's certainly nice to have them on our side and in the public eye.
