US law "counts" if you sell your product to persons in the US. It doesn't matter if your product is porn, bananas, or grand pianos--your product is required to comply with the local laws where it is sold.

A non-US company selling to non-US customers does not need to comply with US law. Other than that, then you get to gray area but it is best to err on the side of caution, assume that US law applies because you are selling to people within the US borders.
