I have two Bengal cats. (They are about 1/8 Asian leopard, and look like small spotted leopards.) They have pelts rather than fur and don't shed at all. I've never been allergic to cats but I'm told that people who are allergic will generally not have problems around Bengals.

It might be an option to consider, they're a lot less expensive ($500-800 from a breeder, or you can find them nearly for free at the Bengal Cat Rescue Network) than the new allergy-free cats, which are genetically bred. They are also absolutely adorable, friendly, smart, and wonderful companions
