rolling stone is a newspaper/magazine, and has always had articles regarding politics. you can generally see at least one listed on every cover, so it's not the same surprise to find them that it is when joining a porn site.

It's called having respect for others, mainly your paying customers. This seems disrespectful that he is forcing his views on people. Mainly when he forces his views on people but then he isn't receptive to accept other people that have a different view then his, wow that's progression!

Not everyone that is gay is a democrat and you need to accept and respect other peoples views and not shove your views upon them. Just as you wouldn't want the opposing teams views shoved upon you.

Respect is sometimes loosely used as a synonym for politeness or manners, by those who do not know any better. However, respect is an attitude of acknowledging the feelings and interests of another party in a relationship, and of treating as consequential for the self the helping or harming of the other. At least thats what I learned in Kindergarten...but hey...I don't live in Florida where people still think Noah had an ark.

You seem to missing my entire point. My statement on my site was an act of respect to my paying members. It shows that I respect them enough to not pretend I am something I am not. It shows them that if they pay a membership fee to me, then I will use it to support causes I believe in. It shoes them respect because now that they know, they can quit and give their money to a porn site that might support their right wing agenda (you know of any?) and not my left wing agenda.

So anyway...the whole reason I started the thread was because I was a little shocked that some many republicans with their "God Bless Traditional Values" were members of my quite subversive non-mainstream porn site.

Jacob, WHAT are you talking about? People freely debate politics every day in a variety of forums. There's nothing rude OR disrespectful about wanting to dicuss these things or wanting to bring them up.

Again, should we tell the columnists at Rolling Stone that they shouldn't express ANY political opinions out of respect for their readers--just because someone MIGHT disagree with it?

Where would we be? Right where we are now, fighting about politics and getting no where! Ask his clients that all departed, where are they now? Wow that really achieved something, he obviously just pissed off a bunch of them and they showed it by not supporting his site and leaving. I know what you're saying, Patti, but it should also be noted many people would say--and do say--there's no room in a music magazine for politics as well. Some people get pissed off when Madonna says something remotely against Bush at her concerts. They also get pissed off when celebrities say things at the Oscar awards.

The truth is, voting is one of the most important issues facing American citizens today, and politics have taken over our society. Obviously, many of us feel that it's perfectly within our own acceptable standards to use whatever medium is available to us to state our opinions regarding this issue.

It's an age-old debate that is never going to end. People will never meet in the middle on this. You're either for speaking out in any context or you're not. End of story.

It accomplished debate, thought and the exchange of ideas just like the ones we are exchanging right now. True, they lost some fans and the country radio stations shunned them, but they have emerged a much stronger act as a result. More importantly, they CONTRIBUTED something, instead of just sitting back and staying quiet.

You see no point in debate. How sad. The sharing of ideas and opinions helps people to either reaffirm or re-examine their opinions and beliefs, and I'd say that's a VERY important step in raising consciousness on the part of American citizens, and in general growth. We're growing with each word we type.
