Actually, that's an egregious misquote that does not accurately represent what I and many others here said.

People who voted straight Democrat voted as a statement, and that statement was heard 'round the world. Look at the media coverage that has ensued since last week's election. When President Bush concedes that, "We got a thumping," that's pretty fucking major.

Idealism is good in theory, but it rarely gets anything accomplished. Occasionally you have to do something that is not entirely within your normal process just to make a statement and help enact change.

I hardly think that anyone would have voted the Boston Strangler into office if he'd run as a Democrat, but again, a vote for anyting other than Democrat was a vote IN FAVOR of the Republicans, who--in my opinion--are running this country into the ground.

By the way, if you're sick of threads about politics, then why start another? You're just adding to the very problem you complained about.
