I disagree, Lee. Hardaway wasn't simply "stating his personal viewpoint." If you read the news stories or hear the radio show itself, it's obvious that the second set of remarks he made--the far more serious ones--were made intentionally to assert a message. "I hate gay people, and I let it be known" says it all, too. The man was most definitely aware of what he was saying, and I have no doubt that he said it with the intention to "send a message home" to anyone who was listening--especially to gays.
