I might have some personally issues with this one, I mean I am cool with making money and all, but really don’t like to allow viewers to interact on any of my sites. I created a bulletin board God what 5 years ago, and all the viewers did was pretend to be 14 year olds, and post CP. After all the policing and I think some guy posting a nude pic of a 8 year old I shut it down permanently.
I just don’t want to be involved with people hooking up, possibly spreading some STD’s, trying to molest kids, or posting CP :uhoh:
I was going to post about this in Max's recent failing industry thread, but it goes along with the theme here too.
Adult social networking online is in it's infancy. There are adult versions of MySpace that are free, and most blog services already allow adult material. So I wouldn't be too high on these initial paid versions unless they have made interesting developments (which is highly unlikely).
One thing that needs to be said is that for every person doing "social networking" online hoping to meet up in real life, there are probably hundreds of people with no intent to ever meet who just want to look at people's photos and MAYBE chat with them online. And that's important to bring up because it's what separates personals sites from the new breed of social sites.
For years the old social services such as personals were a non-competing product. The fact is this sort of stuff has evolved into being the future of sex online, not traditional porn sites. I've been saying it for years. Once you give real people the power of production, their ability to share that with one another is something that will take a huge bite out of online porn sales.
The biggest online adult companies 10 years from now will be those who sell access to the technology that enables the cyber hookups and the exhibitionists to do their thing.
I post here to whore this sig.
Sorry Max... I was away for a few days and perhaps I misread the theme of this thread. But then again I think you and I agree, though on different wave lengths. I am writing as a visionary.
I think many like to view images and profiles of others, maybe not having the balls to communicate for whatever assorted reasons.
Sorry but I was thinking of further evolution of this concept, thus responding to MATT 26z.
The next logical step would be to let all members in the social network to load personal videos.
Now imagine a future when there is a virtual webcam experience available. I am sure the technology will be expensive at first and would be sold by the likes of VSmedia on a per minute basis.
In the meantime, this new business model that Lee opened the tread with, social networking, I do believe has potental for a lot of income. The old horses like gay.com may be soon left behind.
The ability to do all of that already exists, there are social networking sites that give the users the ability to upload video files a la YouTube style and i dont recall where i saw it, but i know i definately saw something a few weeks back while i was researching webcams that would allow direct end-user interaction (camming, audio, saving cam sessions, etc) also and it operated on a 'recurring' basis.
Also, on the technology aspect of it all, the next generation of laptops are already being shipped with webcams/microphones already built in to them at the factory so the potential for new advances in interactivity are certainly there right now.
The one thing about all of this social networking stuff that really amazes me is how 'adult' no longer seems to be at the forefront of new media/technology, instead we find ourselves cloning the ideas and concepts of mainstream websites more and more.

Lee
LOL Thats exactly what i was thinking too LOL
To be fair, i dont want to post any urls of the networking sites ive seen as they havent been launched by the owners yet and i dont think it would be ethical of me to put their URLs out there in the public eye before they had the chance to do so
Im led to beleive its only going to be a matter of days before the first one launches though

Lee
But you are right I would Never let the viewers of a Teen Boy site interact, that is a disaster waiting to happen. I am pretty sure others that make Teen boy or twink sites would agree with that at least I hope so.
But its not just the CP thing though can you imagine all the horrific things that where facilitated by gay.com, just the thought of it makes my stomach hurt.
