i have a question about tours...

probably ya'll know that we recently relaunched http://www.jizz4u.com/

(i put up an announcement to that fact a couple of weeks ago, but it disappeared almost immediately. don't understand why, but there's a lot i don't understand.)

be that as it may, i'd like to get your opinion on what kind of tour, for a membership site, works best. currently, we have an open ended tour where the casual visitor can check out the entire site...even find a bunch of free stuff in the process.

but most sites i visit have more structured tours — the webmaster shows the visitor what she/he wants the visitor to see. that can be pretty misleading, in my estimation.

anyhow, i throw this out there for your thoughts and comments.

there is no one kind of tour type that is best. for reality content, you can always do well with a reality tour. a lot of those slick webinc type tours sell very well for me, but then so do some pretty well organized but amateur looking sites.

what doesn't do quite as well are sites that look corporate and don't offer any really big pics.

what's really important on a tour is the content chosen - hottest looking pics, nothing repetitious and offering the content in a way that makes it look like it will be good quality - and the way it flows. each page should naturally and easily allow the surfers to find the join link and any pages or samples that will add to the experience and will also naturally send them to the join page.

ok i must admit i am a bit confused here... normally with a name like jizz4u.com i would expect it to be site about cumshots / seemen play etc.. but there isnt a simply cumshot on the entire tour ?

also as a tour i find it confusing.. a bit of an "overkill" you are too busy showing off all the wonderfull things people get if they join that you forget to provide enough links for them to click on to accually join.. i know there are buttons placed on the way down the page etc, but when you compare how much they "blend" into the page they are way way to discreet imo..

my honest opinion here is , give it a try but i think you would get better results with a different tour that put more emphasis on selling than showing off content..

I promote a couple of these "show all content" tours and i dont think the ratios are any different. From that point of view its a waste of time unless you have an automated content manager script running. I would guess chargebacks will be lower as the surfers know what he/she is getting before clicking join. They cant complain about lack of content or the wrong content and so on.

nope, it not simply a cumshot site, that's for sure. i chose the J4U name because is was fun and clever, and i think porn should be fun and possibly clever.

this is something for us to reconsider, thank you for your feedback!

i suppose we can always try another tour later.

personally, i like the idea of giving people as much access as possible. there is, as someone said, less chance for charge backs if we're being upfront with the customer.
