President Bush to veto gay hate crimes bill

I was sad to read in the newspaper today that BRAND NEW Representative Heath Shuler voted against legislation to expand the federal definition of hate crimes to include attacks against gays, lesbians and the disabled.

Shuler said he was guided equally by political philosophy and by his Baptist religion, which teaches that homosexuality is wrong.

We are the bottom rung, the last acceptable group of people it's ok to hate and discriminate against, at least in America, most other industrialized western countries see us as equal

It seems so strange, yet obviuos, that religion (love thy neighbor) is preaching unequality in this day and age. It seems Christianity is based on the platform of fear and hate with the guise of love and acceptance.

It seems so strange, yet obviuos, that religion (love thy neighbor) is preaching unequality in this day and age. It seems Christianity is based on the platform of fear and hate with the guise of love and acceptance.

He was voted in as a Democrat, most having a dislike of Bush and War, replacing a old boy that controlled the area for decades. Asheville, North Carolina is known for the largest privately owned home in the USA (I once met one of the owner brothers, both decended from the Vanderbilts, and I was very un-nerved, but he was just a normal person), but Asheville is also known as being an artistic liberal gay friendly city.

It is true the region is very old conservative mountain style, wishing to be left alone and don't disturb these strange crops (evil smile) - similar to what was presented in the movie Cold Mountain. But Asheville has a strong power of artistic and vibrate Gay and Lesbian votes and money.

I am sure this particular vote of his will create much discord for the remainder of his first and ONLY term, thus why I posted it here.

KKK rally against gay marriage

The Des Moines Register and the Mason City Globe-Gazette both had articles yesterday (the DMR one was the AP version of the GG article) on a Charles City, Iowa, man’s plan to hold a Klan rally on a weekend in January to protest the six couples who filed a lawsuit against Iowa’s legislative ban on same-sex marriage. I didn’t realize that Iowa had KKK members, though, it doesn’t really surprise me. When you live in a state that isn’t exactly diverse and is largely rural, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that racists and bigots are sporadically in existence across the state.

But the people that listen to jerks like this believe that if they talk bad about gay people they will go to jail for just talking they hate. They got their people to call there reps in the government not to support it.

What gay people need now is someone like the Rev. Al Sharpton If he hears anything about black people bang he's on the news with a loud mouth and then he March's! That's what we need to do. Just like the blacks in the 60's

you know, the problem is this.... its not bad enough that these guys (raygun, nixxon, etc) did what they did but now,

we're forced to live with their memories everyday by driving by the Nixon Library or something like that -

the new Ronald Raygun Hospital at UCLA! - ACHHH! and the thing is, nobody at UCLA (except the board of regents) think the new hospital name is appropriate - after all, the man put thousands of mentally ill people out of hospitals as governor of CA and did major harm to AIDS by labeling it as a "gay" disease... later, as our first "acting" president...

Wow isn't that the truth! Bush now has the lowest approval rating in a generation, 28%!!!

At 35 years old I have learned so much from our monkey faced president, the most important thing, VOTE! Secondly, making the wrong choice can impact our country in devastating ways and have a ripple effect that can't be controlled.

I hope we can bounce back from his presidency. I don't envy the next president and the work she has cut out for her. What a cleanup job!

Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) will reintroduce the Uniting American Families Act (UAFA) in the U.S. Congress on Tuesday, May 8, 2007. The bill would let gay and lesbian Americans sponsor their partners for immigration benefits, ending the cruel discrimination that keeps loving couples apart.

In the last session of Congress, UAFA succeeded in capturing more than half the House votes it needs to pass, plus more Senate supporters than ever before. When a bill is still pending at the end of one session of Congress it must be reintroduced in the next session and must re-sign all previous cosponsors.

As soon as the bill is introduced on Tuesday, Immigration Equality's website will provide a one-click action alert to tell your members of Congress to support UAFA.
