I would be really interested to see someone from one of the larger companies post in this thread and hear their stand-point on this, as the people in this thread trying to run down newer webmasters both only run small CCBILL powered programs or sites.
well I have been in this industry for 11 years now - and have seen so many who sit in their parents basement - throw a blog or something together and swear they are now an adult webmaster. Unless your prepared to put some of yourself into it like cash - then you really can't classify yourself a webmaster. the Old Boys Club as was referred too are guys who have put some serious coin of their own into their business.

simply loosening the definition so that more can be called adult webmasters - they are only fooling themselves. if its that important then fine - call it what you want - but those that have put all their savings, their life and soul into creating large companies are not going to want to take time and chat with you unless you show some battle scars - otherwise - you will get a pleasant smile with a comment, "feel free to talk to anyone of my employee sales reps"
