I eat at very regular times and eat mostly at home. If you wait till you're really hungry you'll crave sweets and crap, especially if you go out and see all the temptations on the menu.
I always have healthy food readily available at home so I don't get too hungry. I only rarely allow junk food in the house, and only a couple servings at a time. If I want it bad enough, I have to force myself to go OUT to get ice cream or cookies.
Living alone and working at home, I could easily be 500 pounds if I didn't put up some restrictions.
