I HAVE offered bloggers free content to post.. some take it but most do not. Most of them just ignore you and keep posting your movies.

Look, we spend tens of thousands of dollars on some of our movies at Fratmen... we can't afford to just let the bloggers post it for shits and giggles and just shrug it off as if it isn't hurting our bottom lines and threatening our companies.
Ok I get that. Really I do. I wouldn't be too happy with people reprinting my shit without credit (it has happened). It's not cash to me, but it feels the same.

Look, maybe make the offer. And if they refuse then play hardball. But don't just blanket them all together. I mean, sure some scumbags are gonna be out there. Trust me, most of the blogsphere hates those fuckers too. And would support you in shutting them down. For the simple reason that a few of the sites probably are key-loggers in disguise.

    Look, just think about it.

You know what's the funniest thing?...

These people calling themselves bloggers! Do they even have an idea what a blogger is? It's someone that contributes, someone that raises issues, talks about stuff they know, experience, shares information... Being a blogger is much more than posting links to sharing sites.

On another note, why do these guys think they NEED to do it? I'm really amazed. Due to all torrentz and other sharing software, why is there a need to "blog about it" ? How much time do these people have? Are they all unemployed? Don't they have a personal life? A boyfriend? A cruising alley to get laid on? Friends to go out with?

Doing porn for money is one thing. But these guys don't do it for the money, they do it for all other reasons which are still unknown to me.

I have a friend that has around 6000 divx movies. 6000!!! From the crapiest hollywood D-list movies to newest action shit that's there. He has it all stored, firstly on CD's which took almost whole 2 walls of the room, then he started buying storage disk and now he's saving them on those.... I always ask him, why the heck do you need 6000 movies? Why do you feel the need to share these movies with others? He really can't explain it, but the gut instinct tells me, it's to feel noticed. To feel acknowledged by others.

He's not capable of doing anything, creating anything on his own so he feels like sharing stuff that someone else put money, effort and tons of other stuff is close to it. But it's not!

So is not calling yourself a blogger just because you put links to movies someone else stole and uploaded. These people are just plain thiefs. Yes, you can argue, but first think outside the box. Stealing has changed it's ways. Now it's much more acceptable to steal...

Look, I don't think what you guys are doing (or planing to do) is an "attack on gay bloggers". I'm a gay blogger and nothing you could do would hit me. That's why I don't plan on posting this thread on geekslut.

But, they (the free-porn posters) are part of the blogsphere. And i understand why most of them do it. Same reason people share music. They are fans and want to share what they enjoy.

Sure, you are gonna get assholes who are just doing it to piss you guys off. Sort of like "screwing the man" bulshit. And those fuckers, shit - I'll support you in shutting them down.

But most of them do it cause they love it and want to share it. Work with that. Make them a good offer. Shit like promotion videos or maybe send 1 scene from a new release. Allow them to post it as long as they link back to your site. Many other ideas - whatever. Something can be worked out.

And to those "bloggers" won't take the deal or ignore you, shut those fuckers down. But find out who your "fan"-bloggers are first. And work it out with those guys.

Also keep in mind these sires are VERY popular. I've seen some of the numbers. Even if 1 in 1000 browsers buys a video of yours because of a scene he saw on some site... you just made profit. Make it easy of those guys.

It's not like there aren't many blogers who are also affiliates. There are lots of them.

But you seem to have a problem with one aspect of it: They can't upload full videos. NO affiliate can do that. I can't do that.

These guys can earn money, just as I do, promote a site: with clips, photos etc., but they just can't upload all 33 Bel-Ami videos on the rapidshare and promote Bel-Ami along.

It's AGAINST the TERMS of ANY affiliate PROGRAM!!

    It's easy as that.

You've seen bloggers that are promoting Corbin Fisher and they are also uploading full Corbin Fisher movies on Rapidhsare, haven't you? Well... all these guys usually get their ACCOUNTS with CorbinFisher terminated. Just because it's unacceptable to promote this site like that.

It's not like Sponsors aren't giving them free clips (NOT MOVIES) and full photoshoots to promote them.... they just choose to ignor the RULES OF THE GAME!!

Whatever sort of Fan you are, you don't steal and share. You appreciate it.

End of discussion from my part.

The music companies thought that too. And they still may. And look at them now. Music swapping is at an all time high. And their (music companies) profits are sinking in the pits. They are also HATED by music fans. Nothing they (the RIAA) has done (all the lawsuits etc, etc) has stopped it. In fact, it's increased cause they pissed off their biggest fans.

So you have a choice. Choose not to engage. Shut down every site you find with your content. Only to see another site pop up someplace else in 3 hours. Shut that one down. And another pops up. And so on, and so on.

With the varies internet searchers, new sites are indexed quickly. And word flies around the net. So new sites are easy to find. And more and more of your fans hate your guts. Cause you get the blame for sticking it to the little guy.

You say what they do violates the terms of use. Fine. Change the terms. Give permission for a few sites to upload full content. Not everything of course. But a complete scene from a video. Not some BS promo that shows 10 sec clips from all the scenes. When the "blogger"posts it he agrees to link back to the original site. Some of these "bloggers" even review the videos. And allow comments from other fans. Use that asset.

Now to those "bloggers" who refuse to come to some agreement with you. Fuck em. Shout them down.

But at least try with the "fan porn blogger". Offer something reasonable. Try to make them happy. In the long run it will make you happy through more sales.

    Porn bloggers enjoy and share.

I don't think you are right. 'You don't deal with scum' is a line that's being crossed too many time nowadays in my opinion. Maybe I'm old fashioned but when I grew up there were some values I've been taught. One if it was: You don't steal from other people!

And yes, the RIAA and the record companies do have success. Anyone who puts up a website with music content and doesn't live in some lawless territory or uses a hijacked computer, is at plain risk of getting caught within days, if not within hours. The web is not anonymous! It just needs someone to really dig his claws into it. Something that's lacking in the porn industry in my opinion.

But with music piracy, people get sued and have to pay from a couple of hundert bucks up to a shitload of money. And that's the only way you can hurt them. Go after their money. And if there is no money in their pocket, there should be always a nice place behind bars with nice fellows in the same room to keep them happy.

Let's bet how often those thieves pop up again to distribute other peoples property without being asked to do so, when it's their butt which gets nailed.

You're not even reading our posts, are you?

When I send messages to the pirates I DO offer free content. I do try to work with them and I DO attempt to meet them half way.

It's black mail, of course.... "give me free stuff or I'll steal it"

however, 90% of the "bloggers" aren't interested in working with us.. they're interested in taking what they want and posting it for free.

the "Blog" in question here isn't even a blog. It's just a collection of pirated content. There's no links to other sites, no commentary and nothing but pirated content.

What I find kinda funny is the way they act like we - the people who produce their content and work our asses off to deliver quality product - are the big bad wolf for not letting them to just post anything they can steal.

well, let's see how against the "key-loggers" you really are.

who sent you the email? I'm interested in who thinks that when we try to protect our content, we're attacking gay "bloggers."

Some reader sent it. He thought it would interest me enough to write about it. I'm not gonna give you his email address.

But I did check out the sites listed by the OP. My first thought was, "So much for DRM". LOL

Look I gotta ask this: is this REALLY cutting into your profits? I mean, is it that serious or you like Microsoft screaming about pirated copies of Windows? For that matter, how many of you use illegal software?

All I'm saying is, wasting your time and money to go after these guys isn't gonna solve your problem. It'll just make it worse.

Do I know a perfect solution? Not yet. But I'm thinking about it.

Yes, in fact, it is. I've had members drop their memberships and tell me that they can't really justify paying for a site when "it's availalbe for free on Blogspot." If even two people tell me that - and it's been more than 2, I might add - you know you have a problem.

I mean, is it that serious or you like Microsoft screaming about pirated copies of Windows? For that matter, how many of you use illegal software?
Not us. We buy all our software, and we use a lot of it. So much so that Apple called us and offered us specail pricing, in fact.

All I'm saying is, wasting your time and money to go after these guys isn't gonna solve your problem. It'll just make it worse.
OK.. we'll just sit back and let people steal from us. Hey.. when someone breaks into your house, I hope you don't call the police... it's just going to make the thives mad.

Do I know a perfect solution? Not yet. But I'm thinking about it.
I can't wait to hear what you come up with.

In the mean time, I think I might start a blog where I just post whatever I feel like ranting about and hope that the pirates.. sorry.. "bloggers" send me weepy messages about how they're not allowed to rip us off.

Then I'll know where to send my lawyers.

    Geekslut...

This is a maddening conversation - you dont know HOW many times I have contacted these blog punks, inviting them to join our affiliate program. Only to have my letter published on the front page - aong with a statement about keeping the "internet free" - and then having to spend the next 48 hours defending against DNS attacks.

The ONLY way to stop this is for a few of the big guys to press a lawsuit against blogspot itself. I love google, but they need to stop promoting piracy!

I've found that trying to reason with people like geekslut is impossible.

They dont' realize how hard we DO try to work with the people who are stealing from us. And the blog in question... the www.texasheat.us guy.. HOW are we supposed to work with him?

He's got no contact info on his site at all. The email he used to buy his domain is no longer good and the phone number he listed belongs to some woman who's never heard of him.

That site is just a collection of stolen content with no editorial or opinion or personal stuff.

(and he didn't even write the copy that he posted with the videos.. he stole that directly from the DVD sell page I wrote on Fratmen.com... he's not interested in "blogging" at all.. just stealing. You can't work with someone like that.)
