No but then again, we're talking about the most important thing in someone's life - their health. Mandating health insurance is only going to effect those that could pay for it, but decide to spend their money on a bigger house, or a fancier car, more elaborate vacations rather than investing into their healthcare. Those who can't afford it because that money goes to putting food on the table and the electricity on won't have to pay for it.
If you can afford health insurance, but decide to spend that money elsewhere, and then get very sick you leave society with two options. Let you die or pay your medical bills. The first isn't an option in my book. The second doesn't have to be either if we enshrine mandatory health insurance into law.
