... being public about their adult work now than they were 4 or 5 years ago?
I've noticed several recent threads in which somebody has said "Hey, look at so-and-so who's on American Idol/Big Brother/MTV/etc and who also did a porn shoot for ______________."
I think that part of the reason that we as webmasters make a big deal out of it is because we're so conditioned by a society that's doing the equivalent of "Look, his underwear is showing" when it comes out that somebody's been naked somewhere.
But... I am seeing a big difference in mindset among both the models that work with us and the 18-22 year olds I talk to. Most of these kids are a lot more comfortable about their bodies and nudity than kids were 5 or 6 years ago. They aren't ashamed to talk about masturbating, their sexual experiences, and a lot of them are pretty comfortable being naked, having pics of themselves naked or nearly so.
I think to some extent it reflects a society that is FINALLY getting over the big taboos about nudity and sexuality that have been with us for the last, oh, 300 years.
Recently, I've found that even the guys I talk to who *aren't* interested in modeling are usually OK intellectually with the idea of people doing porn, and most don't see any shame or embarrassment about it, and I think that's a really healthy shift.
And the other interesting thing is that, more and more, I talk to straight guys who are totally cool with the idea of jerking off in front of a camera knowing that gay guys are going to be watching them, or even having a guy suck them off or whatever. Basically, it seems like as the stigma of being gay is becoming less among that generation, the idea of experimenting and letting a guy suck you, or fucking a guy, or being fucked or whatever has less negative attached to it.
Of course on the flip side, we have the religious loonies trying to move things back into the Dark Ages, but on the whole, I think most of the kids today are more open... and, in turn, those people are growing up and going into corporate america, and, in turn, having less issues with hiring models who have previously done porn or been naked, because they don't see stigma from it.
Agree? Diasgree?
