The DVD Marketplace Is Officially Dead!

Looks like I was right about Crhistie Hefner as she was forced out and will "step down" January 31st as CEO, though she will remain until her replacement is named.

Common sense, when your demographic is the best demographic for BUYING DVD's, DON'T CUT THE DVD LINE! Minimally license out the work to a third party. I'm sure we'll see these changes come '09 with her successor.

What are your thoughts? Playboy stocks surged today on the news :morning:

Playboys problem is they failed to transition into hardcore 10-15 years ago. They had the biggest and most well known brand in the world but they wouldn’t do full sex content. No one is buying soft-core titty stuff anymore…they want full on hardcore.

About half of my monthly revenue is non-sexual male nude - VOD, DVD and Books.

99% of my DVD sales are non-sexual male nude.

I still wish a honest person would step forward and do DVD sales and fulfillment for us small studios who don't replicate inventory and have the interest and attention of retail stores..

DVD-R dupe on demand production and fulfillment to end user customers. From their mega-mart site, linked from sites like mine, and on Ebay and NaughtyBids.

Especially in light of the HDK news regarding All Boys, which I posted in another thread which had no replies, we need someone who will work us small guys who are fine with being small niches.

Here's an idea for TitanMen - there's a studio called http://www.sharpshooterstudios.com .

Nude men, a lot of Playgirl models, booked through www.TenCasting.com et.al., in reality style MTV like game show scenarios. (Think Next!, Exposed, Room Raiders...).

No matter what anyone thinks of nude men acting silly on video, the company makes big enough bucks to churn out new titles every few weeks/months.

Also, I am of the strong belief that once a customer has seen a model cum, top or bottom, they're onto the next model. Softcore is a marketing technique to: 1) prolong a model's onscreen life expectancy (hardcore to softcore), and 2) a way to tease and introduce a new model to the market place (softcore to hardcore).

From my experience, I get more minutes of VOD time on my softcore titles than customers watching a model jack off. On the oral/anal titles, customers fast forward to the cherry shot, while with softcore, they just let it play and create their own fantasy.

(SharpShooter added hidden JO scenes as menu extras a few years ago, and now Pacific Sun dists their JO compilations.)

Have you talked to Chris at Pornteam? He's one of the very few people in the industry that I would trust completely. His company treated us well back when we were a tiny producer with 2 or 3 titles on VHS and they still treat us really well. Payments are on time, there are no excuses or shadiness, and he has a fantastic fulfillment operation as well as a direct sales site with a lot of traffic.
