It can do, however, it can also mean less clicks.

Realistically its going to depend on a lot of factors, including placement, colors, text and other design aspects on the larger banners as well as on your sites.

Whilst it is certainly true that giving up a larger area for an individual ad will result in higher recognition of the ad placement, that doesnt always amount in more clicks, sometimes size does matter, sometimes it doesnt.
