Your opening statement is head-scratching to say the least. YouTube, iTunes, et al would seem to punch a gigantic hole through your theory.

I don't think people are any less willing to pay for content. I just redesigned one of my sites two months ago and new sales have jumped 43% -- and that's in the AVS market that is supposedly dead. I think people are tired of paying for crap. They want good quality content, big pictures and videos, weekly (or more) updates; they're less willing to pay for a lot of the product on the Web because it doesn't meet these criteria.
