I took the suggestion from here to set up affiliate accounts with both, for the purpose of making affiliate network payments easier...

I signed-up with both on Monday and as of this morning, NO REPLY from CCBill, and half a reply from Epoch.

My goal of setting up recommended affiliate accounts has not happened.

So business must be pretty good for them.

We offer many levels of customization, but as Xxtr8guy pointed out, many of our customers use the boilerplate templates.
If some think we have the "worst looking join pages":hmm: - that's really the choice of the site owner, not CCBill.

A lot of clients don't realize that they can include their own images/logos and there are dozens of colors, and layouts to choose from. And we can upload images (obviously within AUP guidelines) to these pages.

Good examples of using our customization options on the CCBill payment pages.

lloyd, i'm thinking about that. just checked with that program, and they do collect username, password, zip code on a page in their site - a purty one. but even so, ccbill got noticeably less signups, and when i think back, i don't think using that 2 page join changed that at all from when they linked directly to ccbill. weird!
I agree with you on your first part.

On the second one it took me a week of re-doing my signup page. Finally I realized what i was doing wrong to get them to pull out their C/C.

I would really have to see what they are collecting on that first page. I played with that for a long ass time before it worked.

Concerning main customization of CC bill join page. I have yet to see one that is one column going down the page. Those work. And then there is that box that you have to change from no to yes (I believe it's still there).

It was extremely easy for us to customize our join pages, I might add. I think consistency between the rest of a site and the join pages is key, and we had no problem at all doing that with ours and it took almost no time.

We use CCbill, but I prefer Epoch.

The reason? We run some pretty volume sites, yet end up having to kick and scream to get attention.

CCbill has good support for merchants on technical issues (provided you call during the day....) , but from the end user standpoint, customer support at CCbill just blows. They are rude to clients (I guess they figure someone who buys porn subscriptions doesnt need to be treated well....), give incorrect information frequently - and on more than one occasion have scrubbed out perfectly good clients who have a long track record with us.

Finally, with Epoch - they KNOW you. You don't get stuck in a run around with a zillion people who don't know you, and couldnt care less.

We will be using Epoc to process our sex worker's platform. Why? Cause when we contacted CC Bill about another project that needed billing, we got no response for more than 3 weeks.

Anyway, we love Rainey! She made it happen, FAST. While CC Bill slow walking us, lost us an account.

I have to jump in here and say that we very rarely have issues with ccbill.

We did have a period where our sales rep was completely MIA but after we had a chance to sit down and chat with him at Gay Phoenix Forum, he's been immediately responsive, even on weekends when he was out of town.

Gary has been wonderful, totally up front and honest about everything possible, and very helpful.

And as far as tech support, the magic secret is to call on the night shift, between about 9pm and maybe 5-6 am. There are only a couple people on duty, but they are the very best CCBill has to offer, will resolve your problems near-instantly, and are really helpful and friendly to boot. Not saying there aren't good people as well on the day shift -- Emmanuel is one of my favorites -- but there are a lot more people during the day and a fair number of duds in the mix that you just don't run into at night.

Both processors are excellent. Both provide good support. Epoch has aggressively gone after smaller programs and webmasters in the past year and perhaps gained more visibility because they've managed to jump a little ahead of ccbill, but from everything I've heard, CCBill is moving heaven and earth to catch up and I think what we'll end up with is two very strong processors who both offer great support and service, each with slightly different strengths and offerings.

Funny you should said that, I'm pretty sure a CCBill guy hit on me at a party once. I know he was management....maybe he was just being nice...

I have not received any homophobic vibes from CCbill. Have they come out with their new cascading software?

The cascading is wrapping up beta now, with the clients that have been part of the beta test seeing some good numbers.

I don't have the official launch date, And in all candor, the extra flexibility that we added to the system needed a little more time to test before we released it globally.
