Squirt, I think the idea is to stop the spread of an infectious disease. That's why they won't test for things such as heart disease or cancer. But my point is that they won't allow safe sex to be talked about in school, they cut funding for AIDS research, and they're not trying to put out messages about the health risks of HIV and how to stop the spread, but they're going to have mandatory testing to try and find out who already has it. What then?

Seriously, where else but in the gay community do you see health information and public service announcements about HIV and AIDS. Open up Frontiers, or In Los Angeles, or any one of the myriad of gay publications across the country and you'll see the HIV Stops With Me campaign. Or any of the other many notices about HIV meds, organizations like Being Alive and stuff like that. Open up People Magazine and you're lucky to see a blurb about Elton John holding an AIDS fundraiser. Nobody's warning het women about the dangers of unprotected sex beyond avoiding getting pregnant. Or straight men. They are still at risk, but there's no education about it at all.
